Parting is such sweet sorrow…

This line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, balancing the sorrow of parting with the sweet thoughts of their next meeting, seems apt at this moment.

When I sold The Corner last month, it was with the understanding that nothing would change – that The Corner would continue as it has over the past three years. When the new owners took advantage of an opportunity to utilize the location for a different concept, I was as surprised as everyone else, but keenly aware that the choice was theirs to make.

It’s bittersweet to see something we worked hard to create and nurture end. We are grateful for the friendship, support and patronage of our wonderful guests over the years because without you we could not have achieved the success that allowed us to keep the doors open.

Our goal was to offer gracious hospitality and good food & drink in a comfortable environment – our reward was the development of so many lovely friendships as you dined on our patio, in our dining room or at our bar.

Thank you for embracing wine on tap, blankets on the patio, wine pairing dinners (without a wine expert!), cheese courses, adult milkshakes – and the many other touches we hoped would make your experience at The Corner feel like dining at a friend’s.

It’s with sweet sorrow that we say goodbye to The Corner, and as we look forward to seeing our dear friends again soon.
